Author Series Schedule

1st lecture: Wednesday, May 29th 6pm - Kevin Gutzman, “James Madison and the Making of America”: Instead of an idealized portrait of Madison, Gutzman treats readers to the flesh-and-blood story of a man who often performed his founding deeds in spite of himself: Madison’s fame rests on his participation in the writing of The Federalist Papers and his role in drafting the Bill of Rights and Constitution.

2nd lecture: Wednesday July 24th 6pm - Michael Dooling, “Clueless in New England

CLUELESS IN NEW ENGLAND presents the stories of three young women who disappeared forever while walking and hitchhiking near New England’s western border. Paula Welden, Connie Smith and Katherine Hull all vanished and not one clue was uncovered that explained what happened. The three cases are brought to life in this work through newspaper accounts, police investigation files, and interviews with several key persons. Michael looks at these cases through the eyes of modern psychological and geographic profiling. Using knowledge gained from the only case in which any remains were found he applies that learning to the other two cases.

Strong Women Strong Bones 2013 Schedule
January - December 2013
Times depend on location
"Strong Women, Strong Bones" is a nationally recognized fitness program that provides 7 weeks (2 classes/week) of exercise for middle-aged and older women.

The Strong Women Program was developed by Miriam Nelson, Ph.D, associate professor at the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. The Program is based upon years of research on how strength training and nutrition improve the health of women of all ages.

"Strength is a critical factor in living healthier, more active lives. Our research shows that a program of strength training not only improves bone density but reduces falls, improves arthritis symptoms and increases flexibility and strength," states Dr. Nelson. The program is appropriate for both sedentary and very active women.

This program is designed to increase strength, balance and flexibility. Led by Lisa Marie Lee, an instructor who was certified to teach the program by Dr. Nelson, its founder.

For more information regarding the Strong Women Strong Bones Program, contact Lisa at 860-614-1737. Fee: $85 for each 7-week session, with 2 classes per week.
