Western Connecticut Health Network offers comprehensive services for women and children, starting with obstetrics/gynecology care to assist women who are thinking about starting a family or who are already pregnant.
Our outstanding team includes obstetrician/gynecologists, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists and pediatricians, physician assistants, genetic counselors, lactation (breastfeeding) specialists, and nurses certified in their specialties. Beyond reproductive health, the Network provides comprehensive medical and surgical for women seeking advanced care for cardiovascular, cancer and other health concerns.
Maternal-fetal medicine physicians provide care before and during pregnancy to women at increased risk for complications due to medical conditions or genetic factors. Also known as perinatologists, these specialists work closely with obstetrician/gynecologists, infertility experts and others to ensure the health of both mother and baby.
Family Birth Center
At Danbury Hospital’s Family Birth Center, women have access to doctors, nurses and other experts who provide a comprehensive continuum of care, including labor and delivery, personalized delivery plans, breastfeeding support, educational classes and much more.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Danbury Hospital maintains a Level IIIB NICU to care for premature babies and those who are ill at birth. Staffed by a highly trained group of Physicians, Physician Assistants, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and an experienced nursing staff, the NICU operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While you should always expect the best for your baby, you should be prepared and informed about the NICU if your newborn has a problem. We recommend that you discuss your needs and preferences regarding NICU care with your obstetrician/gynecologist well in advance of the birth of your baby.
